Score 88+/100 · Drink 2018-2024, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2016
(Bouchard manages--and harvests--ten hectares of vines with their own team; they also purchase grapes; Weber does 90% of the vinification for this cuvée ): Bright, dark red. Wild, gamey aromas of redcurrant, minerals, espresso and spices. High-pitched and rather refined in the mouth, showing a strong mineral spine to the flavors of red and black berries, kirsch and licorice. Quite backward for village wine, and in need of a couple years of cellaring for its firm tannins to soften. Finishes saline and persistent.
