Score 87/100 · Drink 2017-2019, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2017
The 2014 Viognier Lia is the only wine in this tasting that is underwhelming. Ultimately, the Lia comes across as heavy and lacking in finesse, especially in its aromatics. Winemaker Andy Smith blocked the malolactic fermentation here, but that was not enough to give the wine freshness and poise.

Produced much like a Chardonnay and delivering a very pretty peach blossom, poached pear and honeysuckle-laced nose, the 2014 Viognier Lia offers concentrated stone fruit and baking spice flavors with a lively backbone and silken texture, finishing long with some yeastiness coming through.
