Tasting notes
The 2020 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru (Domaine Gagey) is one of the best wines in the cellar chez Jadot this year. Mingling aromas of red berry fruit with hints of rose petal, exotic spices, vanilla pod and raw cocoa, it's full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with a layered core of concentrated, vibrant fruit that's framed by velvety tannins. It's well worth seeking out.

The 2020 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru possesses one of the finest aromatics from Jadot this year with pixelated red bery fruit and perfectly integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, mainly red fruit laced with tobacco, mocha and white pepper, gentle grip on the finish and a persistent aftertaste. Superb.
Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Scented with intoxicating, zingy red fruit, so open and vibrant on the nose. Just a hint of vanilla and leafiness but it's a subtle scent not a dominant impression. Deep, rounded and utterly fresh on the palate, smoothed, refined texture, wonderful balance between the scent and the structure. Mouth-watering and very long. Complete, harmonious, exciting wine. Super-light on its feet. Dances but has core strength. (JH)
