Tasting notes
Bright ruby-red. Perfumed, complex nose melds spicy black raspberry, pepper, flowers, minerals and graphite.Suave in texture and quite fine-grained, with enticing berry flavors supported by substantial dusty but sweet tannins that build on the persistent finish.

The 2004 Syrah Eddie’s Patch (400 cases) shares an opaque purple color in addition to notes of incense, blackberries, truffles, and spicy wood. It is a huge, dense, cool climate Syrah with a Pinot Noir-like sassafras character. Drink this big, earthy, terroir-driven effort over the next 10-12 years. As I said last year, DuMol is one of my favorite wineries, primarily because of the passion and commitment to quality of owner Kerry Murphy and his winemaker, Andy Smith. Previously recommended: 2003 Chardonnay Chloe (94+), 2003 Chardonnay Isobel (94), 2003 Pinot Noir Finn (93), 2003 Pinot Noir Ryan (90+), 2003 Syrah Eddie’s Patch (95). Tel.
