Score 91/100 · Drink 2007-2014, Robert Parker, Dec 2007

The 2005 Pinot Noir Aidan is a pretty wine, with a deep ruby red color and pure raspberry and cherry notes intermixed with some underbrush and earth. The wine is long, medium-bodied, with loads of freshness and acidity giving it zip and zest. It should drink nicely for 5-7 years. Proprietor Kerry Murphy and his winemaker, Andy Smith, are doing sensational work in the cool-climate areas of the Russian River. This has become one of my favorite tastings of the year, and not only are their Chardonnays and Pinot world-class, but they have extended their brilliance to both Viognier and Syrah. This is a winery that is clearly on top of its game and pushing all the right buttons in terms of quality. Previously recommended: 2004 Chardonnay Chloe (95), 2004 Chardonnay Clare (95+), 2004 Chardonnay Isobel (94+), 2004 Pinot Noir Aidan (89), 2004 Pinot Noir Finn (94), 2004 Pinot Noir Ryan (91), 2004 Syrah Eddie’s Patch (93), 2005 Syrah Jack Robert’s Run (95).
