Tasting notes
Strawberry preserves, fresh but very ripe pear and a hint of banana deliver a heady nose and luscious presence on a creamy palate. But for all of its obvious ripeness and textural caress, this preserves a fine thread of fresh berry juiciness reinforced by zesty lime, while hints of mint and cress create a delightfully cooling and invigorating effect, helping to push back successfully against the wine’s sweetness. A delicate and animated interaction of fruit, herb and mineral elements prevails on the mouthwateringly salt-tinged, lusciously yet refreshingly lingering finish.

The 2015 Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese offers very ripe but precise and fresh fruit with flinty slate aromas. Due to the pure and piquant minerality and racy acidity, the attack on the palate is vital and electrifying. This is a gorgeously lush and piquant Spätlese with grip and a long, salty finish with great tension. A classic with immense aging potential.
