Tasting notes
Score 92/100 · Drink 2019-2039, Robert Parker, Dec 2016

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville is a slightly more masculine, structured style of Cabernet Sauvignon, with more noticeable tannin, some spice box, crème de cassis earth and barrique. The tannins kick in more aggressively than in the Coombsville, and the finish is muscular and long. If the Coombsville is delicious now, the Oakville seems to beg for several years of bottle age and will evolve for two decades or more.

Rich, ample and voluptuous, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is even better today than it was a year ago. This is an especially flamboyant, opulent style, yet all the elements fall into place effortlessly. Today, the 2015 is a total knock-out.

A wine of impact and power, Favia's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville brings together the intensely savory/mineral style of the year and a huge core of fruit. Black cherry, mocha and espresso add shades of nuance, but the 2014 is above all else a wine of intensity and structure. It will be interesting to see what another year in barrel does here.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is exceptional. Silky and polished, the 2014 is a gracious, mid-weight Cabernet to drink now and over the next decade or so. Today, it is supremely nuanced and so elegant. Dark cherry, plum, espresso, licorice and menthol linger. What a beautiful wine this is.
