Tasting notes
The straw and dried-apple aromas are impressive. Full-bodied, lightly chewy and layered palate and a long, flavorful finish. Hints of matchstick, almond and sticky rice. Aging really well. Drink or hold.

One hundred percent from the DuMOL estate, the 2013 Chardonnay Estate (which comes from a combination of the Hyde Wente clone and Mt. Eden selections) is treated similarly to the other cuvées. It emerges from one of the most tightly planted vineyards in Northern California (3,680 vines per acre vs. the typical 600 to 800). Terrific lemon oil, white peach, currant, quince and orange blossom are all present in this complex, citrusy, full-bodied Chardonnay that is built for aging 10-15 years.
The 2013 Chardonnay Estate Vineyard is an intense, powerful wine, but all of that energy is presently directed inward. Today, the 2013 is quite closed and unexpressive. Readers will need to be patient, as this tightly-coiled wine needs time in bottle. The Estate is the most explosive of the DuMol Chardonnays.
DuMOL's Chardonnay Estate is wonderfully deep, powerful and expressive. Round, creamy and layered in the glass, the 2013 impresses for its breadth and resonance. Hints of almond, sage, mint and dried pears linger in a striking finish buffered by vibrant saline notes.
