Tasting notes
The 2018 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru has a lifted green apple, pear and crushed rock nose, touches of oyster shell developing with time in the glass. The palate is beautifully balanced and poised, demonstrating the finest tension and energy among Droin’s Premier Crus, with more bite toward the finish. Superb.

The 2018 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru is dense, powerful and textured in feel. Pear, apricot, spice and floral notes are all given an extra kick of richness in 2018. Creamy and open, but with good underlying structure, the Milieu is going to need a bit of bottle age to be at its very best, but it certainly offers terrific potential.
This is 20% oak-fermented and has a striking, rich peach and pear nose and palate with a layer of gently spiced pear-pastry at the finish. A riot of fruit here, in the first few years. There’s a minerally undercurrent that emerges on the finish. It is all here. Drink on release or hold.
