The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru takes a few swirls of the glass to cohere but it does. Brambly red fruit, sous-bois and some whole cluster in the background clearly need another couple of years to integrate. The palate is well balanced with crunchy black fruit, white pepper and tobacco; however, the stems rule the roost towards the finish to the point where it is difficult to discern the wine. Too much whole bunch here. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées offers up notes of smoky plums and berries mingled with spices and orange rind, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and sumptuous palate that's ample and textured, with a fleshy core of fruit and melting tannins.
