Score 87-89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2004

(tasted from tank; aged in 100% new oak) Bright red-ruby. Subdued but wild aromas of blackberry and fresh herbs. Juicy, violety and tightly wound; less expressive today than the Charmes. A distinctly firmer, more backward wine that will need at least a few years of bottle aging. But will it ever be as pliant as the Charmes?
