Monopole. 30% new oak, no stems. Certified biodynamic. Cask sample. Light, smudgy red. Intense fruit sweetness. Rich, ripe and open. Light-bodied, scented on the palate. Delicately harmonious, with a hint of darker fruit on the finish. (JH)

The 2023 Côte de Nuits Village Clos du Chapeau has a pleasant red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet that has more purity than the Hautes-Côtes. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh with crisp red fruit and a keen line of acidity. It remains lively through the nicely poised finish. This is worth seeking out for early-term drinking.
