2023 Charmes Chambertin

The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Aux Charmes Grand Cru includes 60% whole cluster this year with the main part of the stem removed. This is perfumed and beautifully defined on the nose: red fruit mixes with wild hedgerow and light forest floor scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a little creaminess on the entry, fine acidity and touches of licorice. The harvest's warmth perhaps shapes the finish, and there is black pepper on the aftertaste. This has good potential but certainly leans toward the more concentrated side.
