Pithier and more piquant as well as underlain by stone, this is rather austere for a Schönleber Frühlingsplätzchen, and less charming than the corresponding “Frühtau” bottling, with the seeds and pips of red currant and lime serving for crunchy, piquant invigoration. But there is still plenty of juicy refreshment to a buoyant finish that grips implacably and tugs at the salivary glands, while bittersweet iris perfume serves for further allure.

The 2015 Riesling Monzinger Frühlingsplätzchen GG is super clear and subtle on the flinty/stony nose with its bright, lemony flavored fruit aromas, but it's also very complex. On the palate, this medium to full-bodied Riesling is pure, finessed, piquant and very filigreed but persistent, with lots of salt and refined juiciness. The finish is piquant, lovely and salty. This is a picture book Frühlingsplätzchen of great finesse and an almost weightless body.
The fragrance of the Frühlingsplätzchen is not just about ripe yellow fruit, adding intrigue with some fine floral notes and a hint of green herbs. On the palate it appears a little softer and sweeter than in previous vintages, although there is enough acidity and minerality to keep the flavour fresh and cool. Very elegant style of Grosses Gewächs that shuns exaggeration of its inherent qualities. (MS)
