The 2023 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is another strong effort, unwinding in the glass with notes of pear, hazelnuts, mirabelle, clear honey and white flowers. Full-bodied, ample and unctuous, it's rich and glossy, with a broad, layered profile that reflects its origins in Languettes, one of the riper climats entitled to this appellation.

Cask sample. Certified organic (Ecocert). Hand-picked 12 September. Fermented and aged in oak barrels (30% new) for 15 months. Will be bottled in December 2024. This is the first Bichot white 2023 with real grip and interesting texture. Clementine and tangerine. Fragrant. Nice texture. A little abrupt in the mid palate, but that seems to come from youthful tension. Restrained, tight stoniness that elongates the wine. Very fresh, very focused. (TC)

The 2023 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru comes from the lieu-dit of Languettes on marl soils. It was picked on September 12 and aged in 30% new oak for 15 months. This is a little more extroverted on the nose compared to numerous others tasted from barrel, with yellow fruit yet again, commingling with meringue and yuzu scents. The palate is full-bodied for a Corton-Charlemagne with a slightly more tempered richness than the preceding Meursault-Charmes. There is plenty of extract, turning quite spicy toward a finish that comes across a bit smudged at the moment.
