The 2018 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Reignots is showing beautifully, blossoming in the glass with aromas of spices, wild berries, cherries, rose petals and smoked tea. Medium to full-bodied, succulent and layered, its powdery tannins and lively acids are concealed by an ample core of fragrant fruit. Felettig thinks that this is his best Reignots to date, and I am inclined to agree.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru includes 45% whole-bunch fruit in its two 450-liter barrels. The backward bouquet is a little surly at first, then opens with flint and sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, a fine bead of acidity, a creamy texture and a palpable sense of energy toward the finish. Perhaps it lacks the aftertaste of a top Aux Reignots, but this is still impressive.
