Planted on sandy soils, over schist. Perhaps not the most complex of the Belargus wines, yet this has rich apple fruit notes cut with vibrant acidity. No stirring of the lees, no racking, but loaded with purity and drive. (AWH)

Belargus’s 2021 Savennières Les Gaudrets has turned out beautifully, evoking aromas of white fruits, ripe orchard fruits, spices and spring flowers intertwined with oak hints. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, fleshy and textural, it’s enveloping and deep with a toasty, ethereal finish. A little more austere than the Clos des Ruchères, it offers good aging potential.
The 2021 Savennières Gaudrets is floral and herbal, reminiscent of dill with a sweet oak influence. It's a suave, curvy style that is given shape by its acidity and fine texture, coating the palate and leaving you licking the inside of your mouth. Balanced and well-proportioned, it boasts modest complexity and length.
About the producer
Domaine Belargus rocketed to fame after receiving a perfect score for one of its very first releases. The Anjou estate was created in 2018 by French financier Ivan Massonnat and is dedicated to celebrating the special terroirs of this special corner of the Loire through the lens of Chenin Blanc.
