2014 Chambolle Musigny Les Groseilles

Dark, saturated red. Inviting aromas of redcurrant, roasted coffee and smoked meat. Very sweet and pliant; not hugely concentrated but more delineated than the Feusselottes, showing good mineral verve to its currant and boysenberry flavors. A lovely fruity style of wine with excellent length.

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny les Groseilles 1er Cru was stubborn and obdurate on the nose when I tasted it from stainless steel vat. This is introspective, broody even. The palate is firm and grippy in the mouth, nicely balanced with more succulence appearing towards the finish. This will probably need more time in bottle to coalesce, during which time I hope that the aromatics gain a little more personality and charm. A tale of two wines at the moment: one on the nose and the other on the palate.
