Score 85-87/100 · Drink 2017-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2015
The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur comes from vines that suffer millerandage every year, and Emmanuel Gelin told me that this makes the extraction easier. It has a lifted blackberry and blueberry nose with fine delineation, the palate quite bold and concentrated, as well as voluminous in the mouth; although I would like more finesse and detail to be expressed on the finish. It just feels a little "blocky" compared to Gelin's other 2014s at the moment.
