Tasting notes
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Corvées Pagets 1er Cru is rich and opulent in style, the signature trait of this growing season. With black cherries, cassis and fleeting glimpses of dark chocolate, this wants to make an impression. The palate is medium-bodied with a conspicuously sweet and intense entry, weighty with more glycerine than expected. I am not quite convinced that this suits Charles Lachaux's style. Consequently, it just misses a bit of tension.

0.55 ha (1.36 acres) on sand and terre-blanche. Mid cherry. Deep red and black cherries, raspberry, iron and earth. Ripe and rounded on the palate with spicy complexity and quite flashy acidity. Nevertheless, quite serious and closed. There is depth and volume. Without any angles, a tad dour today, firm. (MH)
The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Corvées Pagets is another of the more charming, open wines in the range out of the gates, offering up pretty aromas of red berries, orange zest, spices and rose petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and vibrant palate that's pure, precise and sensual, concluding with a long, saline finish.
