Tasting notes
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru offers plenty of red fruit on the nose and touches of iodine and violet, understated initially, though it opens nicely in the bottle. Very sensual. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, fleshy with red cherries and wild strawberry laced with orange rind. Very composed and with superb length, this sophisticated and completely engaging Premier Cru should age with style. This shows better than out of barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Next to La Romanée, the domaine owns over 50% of the premier cru. Varied soils ranging from the bottom to the top of the slope. Thin soils with deep fissures in the limestone allowing vine roots to reach up to 10 m under the surface. 3,300 bottles. Cask sample. One of the best wines of the tasting. Deep, slightly more baked on the nose, intense, voluptuous on the palate with crisp, ripe dark-cherry and berry fruit. Has the concentration of a grand cru. Supremely elegant tannins, oak and fine acidity. Great balance. (AWH)
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru has a very opulent and ravishing nose, just a touch of fresh prune developing with aeration. The palate is sweet and pure, cassis and blueberry jam, maybe just missing a little tension and mineralité on the finish. It will be interesting to see whether it keeps these traits in bottle.
About the producer

Since its rebirth in 2000, Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair has quickly become one of the most highly sought-after producers in Vosne-Romanée. The most prized wine from the estate is their monopole Grand Cru La Romanée.
