The 2018 Neuenahrer Sonnenberg Spätburgunder GG is from a vineyard on graywacke covered by five meters of loess loam. Sourced from 100% French Pinot Noir genetics, this is an intensely aromatic and spicy yet pure, fresh and remarkably finessed Pinot with lemon freshness on the nose. The wine is full-bodied, intense and round as well as fresh and vital, and it reveals a great elegance with stimulating salinity and fine tannin grip. This is an excellent Pinot Noir with vibrant freshness on the long and intensely fruity finish. Tasted twice in August 2020.

Raspberry hue, quite deep, ruby reflexes. Truly animating fragrance mixes the fruit of plum and cherry with fresh herbs and a smidgeon of spice. Very juicy on the palate with the taste of morello  cherry, but there is also a crunchy vegetal note which adds plenty of bite. A sprinkling of cedar spice and a dash of black pepper add value to the finish. (MS)
