Far from relying just on exotic fruit, the Bockstein manages to maintain its idiosyncratic composition of herbal, spicy and mineral aromas even at Spätlese level. A perfect alliance of sweet and sour components stimulate the taste buds with the help of citrusy zest and racy acidity. A sprinkling of mineral dust and exotic spice polishes an accomplished performance. (MS)

The intense, lilac nose pulls you deep down into this succulent and very winey riesling, which has plenty of structure and very racy acidity. So much drive at the long, tense finish. And, yes, somewhere in there must be a healthy dose of grape sweetness. Drink or hold.
