2018 Ungeheuer Riesling GG

Tasted as a sample (?) in April this year, the 2018 (Forster) Ungeheuer GG is pretty reductive on the precise, elegant and flinty nose. Intense and compact on the palate, this is a rich and tightly structured yet elegant and ripe Riesling with a long, intense and powerful but elegant, even mineral, persistently crystalline and salty finish. This is an impressive long-distance runner with all the richness of 2018 but the structure and finesse of the Ungeheuer terroir. Remarkably good.
