Tasting notes
From the Ur-plot of Daniel Wagner's Heerkretz, the auctioned 2021 Riesling EMT (Versteigerung) opens with a deep, elegant and generous bouquet of ripe fruits and cream caramel intermingled with the fine, crystalline stony notes of the volcanic Heerkretz. Full-bodied, intense and generous on the palate, this is a dense and rich but vital and persistently fresh as well as saline Riesling that develops a long and intense finish with salt and tension. From the 2021 vintage, this is Wagner's most impressive wine. Bottled with 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork stopper. Tasted in December 2022.

A giant dry riesling with great ripeness, wet-stone vibrancy and flinty mystery. So much lime, pomelo and star-fruit character! Enormous concentration on the palate, where thereâs also Asian-pear and pineapple sweetness (although this is analytically bone-dry). Amazingly long and complete finish. Limited production. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
