Tasting notes
The 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino La Magia is a youthful ruby color and is fruity and attractive on the nose, boasting notes of black raspberries, blueberries, violets, sweet sage, and mossy earth. While medium-bodied, it expands and fills the palate with ripe tannins, mouthwatering acidity, and a lovely finish. A strong offering from La Magia, it should have a wide window for enjoyment over the next 12-15 years.

The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino tempts the imagination with a burst of black raspberries and clove, elevated by nuances of citrus, mint and Christmas spice. It displays notable weight and soothingly round textures, offset by a saturation of tart red and black fruits, all underscored by saline mineral tones. A complex web of fine tannins adds youthful poise through the finish, tapering off classically dry and long with a subtle black cherry resonance that I find wildly attractive.
Mid ruby. Savoury at first but showing spicy sour-cherry fruit notes with aeration. Supple and juicy with soft drying tannins, but the nose could be a little more precise and less stalky. (WS)
