2016 Bernkasteler Doctor Spatlese

The 2016 Riesling Berncasteler Doctor Spätlese is super clear, cool and flinty on the deep and complex nose that also shows tropical fruit aromas of passion fruit and mango. On the palate, this is an enormously rich, dense and textured Doctor Spätlese, a mouth-filling Riesling with almost 90 grams of unfermented sugar. There are tea flavors and a nice salinity in the finish. Generous and long, this has huge aging potential. 8% alcohol and 90 grams per liter of residual sugar. Tasted February 2018.
