Tasting notes
Full, dark red. Knockout nose combines dark raspberry, cranberry, orange zest, rose petal, pepper and sexy oak tones, plus a slightly wild meaty quality. Densely packed and seamless, offering youthfully reserved flavors of cranberry, spices and mocha; really bulletproof fruit here. Finishes with substantial, tactile, essentially fine-grained tannins and subtle rising length. This Clos de Bèze should unfold beautifully over the next 15 to 20 years.

Mid-to-dark cherry red. Like the Charmes, this is gloriously perfumed even now. Essence of red cherry along with the merest hint of spice and earthy depth. More compact in texture than the Charmes, less finesse to the tannins for the moment, but with the same promise of both generosity and freshness. (JH)
