Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2018-2036, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2013 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles St Jacques is more laconic on the nose compared to its sibling premier cru wines at the moment, but there is tangible minerality here that I think will be revealed with bottle age. It is not powerful, much more understated than say, the Petit Chapelle '13. The palate is smooth on the entry: supple tannin here exerting a gentle grip with an almost Vosne-like texture. It is just a little pinched on the finish, but hopefully it will gain more weight and flesh in bottle.

Light bright sweet fruit. A little simple – fermented cherry cough sweets? Dry finish. (JR)
