Tasting notes
The 2017 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru marries finesse and power in the way only very few wines can. Explosive aromatics lead into a core of inky blue/purplish fruit, rose petal, mint, blood orange and pomegranate. Time in the glass brings out a whole range of game, smoke, licorice and tobacco nuances that are typical of Gevrey. The 2017 Latricières is a magical wine that captivates all the senses in the way only Burgundy can. It is a wine of both tremendous hedonistic and intellectual pleasure.

The 2017 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing especially well this year, opening up in the glass with aromas of wild berries, coniferous forest floor, cassis and dark chocolate, framed by a deft application of classy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and incisive, with an intense core of fruit, beautifully refined structuring tannins and a long, mineral finish. Finer-boned and more reserved than the Clos de la Roche, this will be worth a special effort to seek out.
About the producer

For many, Domaine Leroy represents the pinnacle of fine Burgundy. Owned and run by the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy, the domaine in Vosne-Romanée is one strand of the Leroy empire, along with Maison Leroy and Domaine d’Auvenay.
