(3 barrels produced, vs. a normal 17!): Good medium red. Slightly medicinal scents of licorice and oak (one of the three barrels was new). Surprisingly supple and easygoing for such a tiny yield, offering a touch of sweetness but limited nuance. Finishes with a suggestion of herbal greenness and dusty tannins but I suspect this wine will drink well early. Will it show more fruit in bottle, though?
Due to frost, there are just three barrels of the 2016 Chambolle Musigny. As such, the barrel sample did seem balanced on the nose but did not convey a sense of energy or spirit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slightly austere tannin, then it drops away quite rapidly on the finish. This should be for early drinking only.
