The 2021 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a slightly bricking hue, presumably due to whole bunch addition. The nose delivers on that, overtly stemmy to the point that it masks the red berry fruit and used tea leaf scents behind it. Thankfully, they do seem to be assimilated with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, again quite stemmy and brittle. There is plenty of freshness here but if you don't like whole cluster Burgundy, avoid. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru seems to show more new oak on the nose, strawberry pastilles, redcurrant jus and raspberry. Quite floral. The palate is medium-bodied with very pliant tannins. This is one Grand Cru where I feel it lacks a bit of backbone and grip and find myself seeking more weight overall. Fine, but I have a preference for other vintages.
