AP number 05 24. RS c 42 g/l, usually a little higher than in the Himmelreich. Here, too, a light fumy/mineral note and a lifted, clementine aroma. This is creamy but has a little more grip in the texture after the Himmelreich Kabinett 2023. Refined, elegant and long. (JH)

The 2023 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett (Auction) is deep, intense yet also precise and refined on the pure and elegant nose that offers bright fruit aromas intertwined with very delicate slate and floral aromas. Very mineral and complex yet also light and filigreed on the palate, this is a highly finessed and savory Kabinett with an enormously fine and salivating finish. It's impossible to resist. 8.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 16 24 in January 2025.

AP number 05 24. A touch of white mushroom here (which seems to be from the vineyard, since I found it on all the Wehlener Sonnenuhr 2023s), as well as all that pure lemon fruit. More complex than the Graacher Himmelreich. Tastes a little sweeter, too. (Apparently the residual sugar is a little higher – roughly 40 g/l – and the acidity slightly lower.) Creamy, peachy and delicate but not particularly intense. (JH)

The 2023 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett opens with some reduction, but the yeastiness blends with lemon. The palate is sleek and contoured, vividly fine, with cool, salty slate. Its blue, cool aspect shines with yellow lemon, creating a gorgeous complementary accord that accentuates absolute elegance.
