Tasting notes
Just as the Vosne-Romanée AOC is the most reserved of Tremblay's communal appellations, so the 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts was the most reserved of her premier crus during this tasting. Unwinding in the glass with notes of raspberries, plums and spices mingled with notions of grilled game bird and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with lively acids, melting tannins and an already seamless profile, even if it still needs more élevage.

0.15 ha, currently 90-year-old vines. (Nowhere close to the two hectares’ worth total parcels (not organic but no herbicides) that she will inherit in 2021, including rows right next to Échezeaux Grand Cru.) The first grapes to be picked. Cask sample. Very rich indeed with almost coffee-grounds notes. (JR)
