Score 92/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, May 2010

Proving the age worthiness of this wine, the 1990 E. Guigal Hermitage Blanc has subtle, rich aromas of custardy peach, honeycomb, orange rind and white flower oil. Full and fat on the nose, the wine is medium bodied with a rich, slightly oily texture, fresh acidity and a clean, long finish. Interesting and delicious, this is best served as an aperitif or at the end of a meal at this point.

Score 89/100 · Drink 1994-2000, Robert Parker, Dec 1992

Guigal's white Hermitage is rarely that striking when young. It is fun to taste from cask, but once it is bottled, the attractive aromas of roasted nuts, honey, peaches and flowers seem to go undercover. The 1990 white Hermitage is a full-bodied, authoritatively rich wine that has managed to retain some of its flowery, honeyed, peach-scented nose. With some subtle oak in the background, this firm, concentrated, chewy-textured wine can be drunk now, but promises to benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring. It will keep for 10-15 years. One of the most powerful and heady white Hermitages Guigal has produced, it may turn out to be as compelling as his 1988 and 1979. Importer: Classic Wines, Boston, MA.
