Tasting notes
53% Cabernet Franc, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot. 50% new oak. Deep purple. Like tart, sweet blackberry-pie filling with cedary spice. Earthy and lovely. Concentrated, balanced, juicy and fresh. Fine-grained tannin and a light mintiness with juicy tart plum on the finish. Fresh floral lift. (SCJ)

Favia's 2021 Cerro Sur Red Wine comes from the Rancho Chimiles Vineyard, near Pahlmeyer's Waters Ranch. A blend of 53% Cabernet Franc, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, it seamlessly marries black cherries and vaguely floral notes, plus hints of tobacco on the nose. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied, ripe and enveloping, just lovely stuff. The tannins are soft, but the wine is definitely alive, its long finish marked by vibrant acidity.
The 2021 Cerro Sur is a blend of 53% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 13% Merlot from Rancho Chimiles Vineyard. Deep garnet-purple in color, it features evocative scents of black raspberries, wild blueberries, and redcurrant preserves leading to hints of pencil shavings, bay leaves, and red roses. The full-bodied palate vibrates with energetic black and red berry layers framed by fine-grained tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This is gorgeous!
