The 2021 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is very pure and perfumed, macerated red cherries, wild strawberry, kirsch and rose petal scents, an underlying mineralité that will become more conspicuous with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite firm tannins (more like a Mazis?) leading to a sapid, slightly peppery finish that lingers. Needs to knit together but great potential.

Wafting from the glass with notes of dark berries, orange zest, spices and red fruit compote, the 2021 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, its satiny attack segueing into a layered, concentrated core of fruit and a long, saline finish.
About the producer
Domaine Ponsot is one of the most well-known estates in the Côte de Nuits, famed for owning three of the original four hectares of the Clos de la Roche Grand Cru. The legendary domaine also produces another nine Grand Cru cuvées.
