Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Perrières Blanc from Henri Gouges has a crisp, mineral-driven bouquet that is quite austere at first, but there is real intensity behind this wine. The palate is fresh on the entry with green apple and Cornice pear, quite terse and linear and perhaps just falling a little short on the finish. Enjoy this over the next 4-5 years.

Not especially expressive aromatically at this point but very white Nuits. Chunky and solid with masses of matière tucked in there. A sweetish start with some tang and blossomy quality after a while in the glass. Solid but not uncompromisingly stolid. Promising. (JR)
