Tasting notes
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet, tinned strawberries and raspberries, a touch of tomato vine, darker fruit and hints of iodine emerging with time in the glass. It is quite understated at first, and this does become rather Bretty. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a little meatier in style, again, the Brett oppressing the fruit. I will not score this bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Good pace on the nose. And sufficient interesting fruit to compensate for the (quite considerable) tannin. This should eventually provide fine drinking. (JR)
Opening in the glass with scents of sweet berry fruit, plums, smoke and rose petals, the 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots is medium to full-bodied, rich and muscular, with lively acids and youthfully chewy structuring tannins.
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru is very pure on the nose with macerated small dark cherries, violet petals and light aniseed aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiselled tannins, good depth, quite sweet in the mouth and maybe just a little confit-like towards the finish, that does not quite exude the class of their top Nuits-Saint-Georges.
