Light yellow. Very tight aromas of citrus peel and powdered white stone. Concentrated and dense but dry and uncompromising, standing out most today for its breadth and fine-grained texture. There's something sedate and seductive about this premier cru, which shows more pliancy than the Beauroy. Really spreads out and builds on the slowly mounting lemon-and-stone finish.
The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Montmains has a lovely, comely bouquet in the making with hints of white chocolate and almond complementing the citrus fruit, with the oak neatly integrated already. The palate is crisp and fresh with the best salinity among Tribut's 2015s--very taut and linear, almost spicy on the long finish. This is punchier and more feisty than the composed Beauroy, but both represent the work of a skillful winemaker.
Lemon-yellow color. Subtle perfume of underripe pineapple and fresh herbs. Finer-grained than the Beauroy, conveying a strong impression of density and extract. The classic Chablis flavors of lemon and crushed rock display lovely tension and finesse for a wine from this cellar but the long, brisk finish retains a silky quality. Very promising.
