Bright, dark red with ruby tones. At once a bit riper and more gamey on the nose than the Champonnets, offering notes of currant, smoke, spices and espresso. Then a bit less sweet but highly concentrated in the mouth, offering a complex blend of raspberry, redcurrant, earth, spice and saline mineral flavors along with a slight leathery funkiness that screams out Gevrey. Boasts lovely finesse of texture, sneaky length and fully ripe tannins but this wine shows little or no evidence of roasted ripeness. Less sappy and creamy today than the Champonnets, this wine may be starting to shut down in the bottle.

The 2015 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru les Cherbaudes has a seductive, almost "glossy" bouquet with precocious kirsch, crushed strawberry and orange sorbet aromas that keep you entranced. The palate is very well balanced with rounded, sensual red cherry, strawberry, blood orange and brown spice notes, a keen line of acidity and great density on the finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is a Chambolle-Musigny of substance and it constitutes a great wine from Louis Boillot.

(from Boillot's oldest vines, planted in 1912; his 90-year-old father still does the vineyard work here): Bright, dark red with ruby highlights. Extremely complex nose melds blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, espresso and wild herbs. Dense, sweet and highly concentrated, offering an uncanny combination of supple texture and penetrating acidity. This wonderfully sappy wine finishes saline, tactile and brisk, with explosive palate-staining length and lift. A great and potentially long-lived premier cru in the making.
