Tasting notes
Cask sample. Deep, dark, briary fruits here. Complex and brooding. Has a lot more depth and concentration than many a Chambolle-Musigny. So much going on with the nose! Rounded, voluptuous palate with sweet fruit notes. Great acidity to balance. Not a premier cru I know well but one I will look out for. (AWH)

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Carrières derives from two blocks—one is 45 years old, and the other is 10 years its senior, both of which are treated with a caterpillar-tracked "chenillard" rather than a tractor. Unfurling in the glass with notions of cassis and raspberries mingled with blood orange, petals and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with a cool and enveloping core of fruit, lively acids and a complete, harmonious profile. This is especially good this year.
