Tasting Notes
Charles van Canneyt has 0.5 hectares of this Premier Cru, sandwiched between Clos de la Perrière and Le Clos Blanc. It’s one to watch – and a site that Charles thinks is benefiting from global warming, thanks to its limestone soils. The 2022 is bright – packed full of blueberry and raspberry fruit, juicy and vibrant. The tannins provide a chalky grip and mineral line, with subtle spice notes that play on the finish alongside the delicious berry fruit. Long, pure and very, very good.

This too is cool, airy and spicy with its essence of red currant, cherry and crushed fennel aromas. The notably finer texture of the middleweight flavors is immediately evident as there is a lilting but punchy mouthfeel, all wrapped in a dusty, silky and refined yet firm, serious and youthfully austere finish. I very much like the balance and this too should be more than capable of rewarding a decade plus of keeping. Drink 2032+
Crimson with a pinker tinge. Lifted little red fruits on the nose, stylish and racy, some youthful bitters on the palate, light tannins, adequate acidity, then the fruit comes rushing back behind. Persistent, discreet, fine, with a pleasing mineral touch.
The 2022 Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeot is beautiful, bursting with aromas of sweet plums and red berries mingled with orange zest and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, pure and ethereal, it's supple and seamless, with lively acids and a saline finish.
