Drink 2027-2032, Vinfolio, Nov 2023

The 2022 Gevrey Chambertin Village has been made using 60% whole bunch like the rest of the village range. Here, David wanted to retain and capture the freshness of the vintage. It displays lovely red berries aromas, green peppers, a nice complexity and an earthy profile that makes it really attractive on the nose. The tannins are polished, silky, elegant and profound, the backbone of acidity drives the mid palate with crunchy raspberries and strawberries toward the finish. This Gevrey is a great example of the quality that could be achieved at this level in 2022. A real treat at this price point!

Outstanding - <80% of the blend comes from Brochon vineyards that include Les Journaux, Les Gueulpines, Les Croisettes and Créot, with the rest from Pince Vin on the Gevrey side - A whiff of herbal tea character suffuses the more deeply pitched nose of plum, red berries, earth and an admirably deft touch of wood. I very much like the texture and detail of the medium-bodied flavors that possess both good volume and focused power that seems to built on the balanced and lingering finale. This needs better depth but the potential for that appears to be present.

85% is from the Brochon side. Mid crimson, another translucent colour. A little more strawberry in the nose, with the fruit here being spread very nicely across the palate, a little more density all the way through and an additional weight of fruit at the back. A lovely example in this style.
