Tasting notes
Veglio's 2005 Barolo Arborina is in a beautiful spot right now, as the aromatics and tannins have begun to soften, which in turn has allowed the fruit to come through nicely. Sweet red cherry, mint, cinnamon and new leather are all vibrant and nicely delineated throughout. The tannins dry out a touch on the finish, but otherwise this is a fine showing.

Good full red. Attractive aromas of raspberry, coffee and smoky oak. Sweet but vinous and firm, with good energy to the flavors of red cherry, minerals and rose petal. Finishes juicy and long, with firm tannins and lovely aromatic lift. Very suave Barolo, and an excellent example of the vintage.
Veglio's 2005 Barolo Arborina is intensely fragrant in its red berries, flowers and spices. This medium-bodied, feminine Barolo reveals outstanding length, with high tone aromatics that reappear on the finish. Like all of the Veglio Barolos in 2005, this is a relatively smaller-scaled style.
Veglio’s 2005 Barolo Arborina is intensely fragrant in its red berries, flowers and spices. Like all of the Veglio Barolos in 2005, this is a relatively smaller-scaled style. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020. Mauro Veglio’s 2005 Barolos offer lovely purity of fruit in the small-scaled style of the vintage. The wines will drink well early and look to be relatively early maturing. In recent years fermentations have been gradually lengthened and the percentage of new oak has been brought down. While these are undoubtedly positive developments, it is the vintage that speaks most eloquently with this set of new releases. Importer: T. Edward Wines, Ltd., New York, NY; tel. (212) 233-1504
