Score 92/100 · Drink 2023-2048, Neal Martin, Oct 2019
The 2016 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru offers airy blackberry and bilberry fruit on the nose. It is fresh and delineated, if perhaps just a bit "aloof" at present. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of sappy black fruit and a distinct marine influence that permeates throughout. It is a serious 2016 Clos de Vougeot, one that will repay cellaring. Note that this wine did close up and become just a little muted with aeration. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
