Just-transparent crimson. Very rich and voluptuous and very distinctive. Yeast-extract flavours! Soft tannins. More approachable than Gouges' wines usually are. With a slight hint of ink on the end. (JR)

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Cuvée Fontaine Jacquinots, which comes from a vineyard close to Château Gris, includes 20% whole bunch without sulphur addition. It has a ripe blueberry and violet scented nose, the stem addition fully assimilated. The palate is medium-bodied with a black pepper entry, fine acidity, quite firm towards the finish that should flesh out with bottle age. Fine.
