Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2023-2035, Neal Martin, Dec 2020
The 2019 Pommard Epenots 1er Cru has a refined black cherry and boysenberry jam bouquet plus a touch of pressed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, supple tannins. Good structure behind the veneer of sweet black and blue fruit. Ample freshness toward the finish, which just feels a little clipped on the aftertaste at the moment. Oddly, I find the Pommard Village more attractive. Give this 3–5 years in bottle and maybe I will change my mind.
