Score 87-89/100 · Drink 1998-2003, Pierre Rovani, Aug 1998
This is a ruby/purple colored wine (a vineyard wedged between the RN74 and the premier cru Les Pruliers). This parcel desperately wants to produce 75 hectoliters/hectare and that it takes draconian pruning and vigilance to maintain it at 45 h/h. Its red berry and sweet oak aromas give way to a medium-to-full-bodied, thick, rich, velvety, and layered core of plums, black cherries, and vanilla-laced oak. This lovely, graceful wine offers beautifully ripe fruit and supple tannins. It should be drunk between now and 2003. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083.
