The 2015 Calvert Pinot Noir has a very classic nose that you could well mistake for a Pommard: redcurrant and cranberry, freshly tilled soil and a little earthiness that becomes more pronounced with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. This is beautifully balanced and very harmonious, leading to a tender, elegant, impressively saline finish that almost belies its intensity and focus. Wonderful.
Normal year. Some freshness and zest. Round and polished. Not that intense despite the Felton Road description of ‘Calvertness’ (great intensity)! Racy and easy to love. Floral. Easy peasy to like. (JR)
Medium ruby-purple in color, the 2015 Calvert offers expressive black cherry, black raspberry and anise notes with suggestions of lavender and dried Provence herbs. Medium-bodied, soft, supple and packed with black berry flavors, it finishes with great length.
